Did you know?

Remarkably, this apiary was run by a woman. Bee-keeping was a male domain during the first half of the 20th century and female bee-keepers would have been a rarity. As the daughter of a farmer, Genoveva Schöll would have been familiar with keeping animals, including bees. There were two other bee-keepers in Hohenpeißenberg aside from her at that time: the village teacher and a farmer.
