The baking house from Brand was once part of the Fellner farm, a single-roof farmhouse near Ruhpolding. Today, its function at the Open Air Museum is to complete the Weißenbach property, whose outbuilding no longer existed when the farm was taken on.

Like many agricultural outbuildings no longer in use, the baking house was a candidate for demolition when its wooden components were rescued in November 1983. The fittings, an oven and wash cauldron, were no longer in existence, nor were they reconstructed at the Open Air Museum.
