Our buildings

The colourful design of the building, dating from the second half of the 19th century, is remarkable. As there was barely anything left of the original furnishings, the focus here was on reconstructing the colourful interior and exterior walls for the purposes of presentation. What remained of the previous interior design is on display, as well as a few personal effects.

Did you know?

Two different eras are shown in the Weidacher building, right next to one another: In the kitchen, which is located in the entrance, the open stove with integrated oven and the chimney hood from the 19th century are reconstructions. The second era on display shows the conversions and installations carried out in the 20th century, for example the pantry under the stairs which is separated by wooden partitions. This type of presentation is designed to give visitors insight into the subject of building research and demonstrate how a house goes through constant changes over several generations.
