Our buildings

This ensemble consists of two buildings: a bowling alley and a veranda, or «Salettl»/pavilion, which both once belonged to the Staudham guesthouse. The veranda combined several functions under one roof: ice house, cold-storage room, bar and veranda. The former ice house is now a modern kitchen for the restaurant. The bowling alley can be rented out.

The term “Salettl” is from the Italian “saletta”, which means “small room”, and is now mainly used in Austria. It describes a pavilion, a gazebo or the veranda of a tavern.

Did you know? The earliest mention of Staudham in the records is from the 13th  century. Conveniently located on the Munich-Wasserburg-Salzburg trading route, the property was used as a staging point for horses and travellers. A map of the area from 1876 records a residence and guesthouse with a large annex, granary, shed, laundry, well, stables, veranda and bowling alley as all belonging to the property.
