S4 Stone marking historic boundary

District: Bad Tölz - Wolfratshausen
Municipality: Schlehdorf
Type of Building: boundary stone

 17th/18th century

(at 25 Orthofen apiary)

The red, Großweil marble stone bears the inscriptions “LW” for “Landgericht [Regional Court] Weilheim” and “CS” for “Closter [Abbey] Schlehdorf”. It marked the boundary between these two legal jurisdictions from 1687. It stood on the cadastral district of Großweiler, between Karpfsee and Glentleiten. The stone was moved to the museum in 2002. Its current location is on the exact boundary between the rural districts of Garmisch-Partenkirchen and Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen.
